Sea Buckthorn is a seasonal green shrub, indigenous to Europe and Asia that produces bright orange-red,
edible berries. It is rich in unsaturated essential fatty acids, including Linoleic and Linolenic Acids.
Sea Buckthorn Oil is also naturally high in antioxidants Beta Carotene and Vitamins A and E, which aid
in protecting the skin from UV radiation and free-radical damage. It locks in moisture by supporting the
skin's lipid layers and has anti-inflammatory properties, which aid in healing.

Pure Fiji Protecting the Environment |
Pure Fiji is committed to sustainable manufacturing and reducing its carbon footprint. Botanical ingredients such as the blend of nut oils are wild-harvested to reduce our requirements for energy dependent irrigation and fertilization methods thus limiting our carbon impact. Bottles used in packaging are PET which are an environmentally responsible choice as they require 24% less energy to produce and generate 40% less solid waste than glass bottles.
Gift packaging is made by hand using natural fibers such as handmade paper or in delightful woven baskets.

| Eco-smart production with Sustainable Raw Materials |
Botanical ingredients produced in Fiji are themselves are harvested sustainably without impact on the plants themselves or the surrounding environment.
Processing of several of the ingredients used in formulations rely on hand-operated cold pressing of nuts into oil. This limits the carbon impact on the environment while creating employment opportunities for rural communities.
Some of the methods employed in processing the ingredients use a natural source of energy such as passive solar dryers. This eliminates the need to use bio-mass, electric resistance, or liquid fuel-fired heaters.
By-products from coconut husks and the shell material from oil bearing nuts are recycled as mulch and fertilizer.
The structures which support these enterprises are often made of local, environmentally low-impact materials such as plaited sago palm roofing. Such buildings are bright, airy, and cool, eliminating the need for artificial lighting or ventilating. Some suppliers of the processed botanicals minimize any environmental impact by running generators etc on natural, unrefined coconut oil.

Malie is committed to making educated choices that have a positive effect on our environment, thus reducing our carbon footprint. It is important that we work together in our communities to find solutions and change the way we live and consume. Being green is a part of daily living. It encompasses the choices we make and the actions that follow our choices. People can turn things around by making the smallest incremental changes to green their lives.
Malie is reducing our carbon footprint one step at a time. Malie has always been natural and organic when possible with our ingredients and packaging, only sourcing materials from Hawaii and the US. Given the pure, natural and organic personality of our product, it is only natural we use 100% post consumer recycled product for packaging. All of Malie bottles are 100% recyclable plastic and glass.
By Malie using recycled goods for our packaging we're taking perfectly good materials and diverting them from going into a landfill. But that is not where it stops. It also takes consumers buying products made from recycled materials for recycling to fulfill its objective and then recycle them again. Please recycle all or our products. Reduce, reuse and recycle. However, recycle should be the last option. We also feel it is important to be green internally. In our office, we've created an in-house office-recycling program. We recycle all of our office waste, from paper to boxes to cardboard to packaging materials.
Malie also reduces by managing the company via an electronic database, which significantly reduces our paper consumption. We also reuse paper whenever possible, printing double sided and using scrap paper for internal notes. Malie's corporate headquarters are soon to be using solar energy and Malie Farms use only certified organic fertilizers and no pesticides. Go Green with Malie. Hawaiian Body Products is a family run company with roots deep in Hawai'i.
We use only ingredients that can be found in Hawai'i. We make our own hydrosols ("soul" of the plant) infusing locally grown and wild crafted botanicals in an ancient copper distilling processes. We buy from and support our local farmers using all natural and organic ingredients whenever possible. We value the ancient wisdom passed down by our elders and we handcraft everything with reverence and respect. All the botanicals, fruit, sea elements and oils we use for a reason and because they have a connection that is valued by our Hawaiian elders. | When cosmetic companies claim "no animal testing", it may not always be entirely true. The final formula may not have been tested, but each chemical ingredient had to of been tested in order for the ingredient to be FDA approved. Since all formulas are made only with food ingredients, none of our ingredients were ever tested on animals. In fact, loves and respects all animals and are proud animal activists that support causes that help to promote the ethical treatment of animals. 100% Pure formulas are all cruelty free and vegan (without the use of animal ingredients- except when honey is used in the formula as bees are not harmed while honey is collected). |
